About Todmorden
Todmorden is situated in three valleys in the Southern Pennines at the very outer edge of West Yorkshire, about 25 miles North East of Manchester, where the river Calder starts. The scenery is simply breathtaking. The glaciated valleys are steep and rugged, and walking in the area is very rewarding. The Pennine Way runs through the town. A view from the hills
Todmorden has some very impressive buildings, the most famous of which is the town hall. Most of these are left over from when Tod was a major cotton producing town, where water rushing down the steep valleys was used to power the water wheels to drive the machinery to produce cotton. The Town Hall
It is a windy place, especially on top of the hills, and already has a Wind Farm. Love it or loathe it, it is definitely an awesome sight, which can be seen from miles around. Wind Farm
Back down in the valley you come across a great park. It's huge compared with the size of the town, with four bowling greens and acres of open space and gardens. The Park
A canal runs through the centre of town, now restored to working order, and regularly used by narrow boats.

Todmorden is a great place, and we want to keep it that way. Why not have a look at the issues affecting our community and have your say on the message boards.
